Heavy Equipment Operator
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company operating safety policies and procedures 
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment 
- Basic rigging utilizing forklifts, skid-steers, and excavators, knowledge of approved lift points and best rigging practices 
- Move materials and equipment using truck and trailer, capability to drive and maneuver truck and trailer 
- Be mindful of site safety, raise awareness to management and propose solutions or hazard mitigation 
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate 
- Valid Driver’s License 
- 2+ years of experience with heavy equipment operations 
- 3+ years in construction/agriculture 
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Class A CDL (+$2.00/hr.) 
- Experience installing subsurface drain lines 
- Experience operating excavator, tile trencher, and/or tile plow 
- Experience in excavation, backfill, and grade preparation 
- Experience in rigging 
- Strong working knowledge of lifting and equipment operation signals 
- Knowledge of safe work practices OSHA 29 CFR 1926 
- Understand the larger project/site goals and be proactive in addressing future blockers to improve overall efficiency or raise concerns to management 
Additional Requirements
- Physical effort including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 45 lbs. unassisted 
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day 
- Ability to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends when needed 
- Willing to travel as needed, up to 5% travel
