Heavy Equipment Operator
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company operating safety policies and procedures
Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
Basic rigging utilizing forklifts, skid-steers, and excavators, knowledge of approved lift points and best rigging practices
Move materials and equipment using truck and trailer, capability to drive and maneuver truck and trailer
Be mindful of site safety, raise awareness to management and propose solutions or hazard mitigation
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Valid Driver’s License
2+ years of experience with heavy equipment operations
3+ years in construction/agriculture
Preferred Skills and Experience
Class A CDL (+$2.00/hr.)
Experience installing subsurface drain lines
Experience operating excavator, tile trencher, and/or tile plow
Experience in excavation, backfill, and grade preparation
Experience in rigging
Strong working knowledge of lifting and equipment operation signals
Knowledge of safe work practices OSHA 29 CFR 1926
Understand the larger project/site goals and be proactive in addressing future blockers to improve overall efficiency or raise concerns to management
Additional Requirements
Physical effort including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 45 lbs. unassisted
Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day
Ability to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends when needed
Willing to travel as needed, up to 5% travel
